Documents required for Marriage Registration in Delhi

A checklist of documents required for marriage registration in Delhi is different in every zone. Although, Delhi govt. published a checklist on its website, but the same is not much useful for the applicant as different criteria and documents are fixed by every ADM and marriage registration form is also different in every office. This is very surprising but a reality.

With my experience of dealing in some offices of different zones, basic documents which every ADM demands for marriage registration are given below:

1.  Application form.  It is better to collect an original application form from the concerned office of ADM. Although, Delhi Govt. has floated a website which provides facility of online marriage registration. But said facility is nothing more than a wastage of time. No ADM office doing a registration on the basis of online application. They have their own forms and formalities.

Now, Aadhar no. / Acknowledgment no. of Aadhar application is mandatory.

2.  Residence proof of any one party presently residing in the Jurisdiction of concerned ADM office. Admissible proofs are Ration Card/ Election Card/ Passport.  They will not accept any other kind of proof. Residence proof of other party is also required for registration & the same may or may not fall under the jurisdiction of ADM office. A copy of proofs to be attested by the Gazetted officer Rank-I with his/her clear stamp containing name, designation, complete office address, date of attestation, official phone no.

3.  Date of Birth proof of both the parties. Admissible proofs are Birth Certificate/ Matriculation Certificate only. A copy of proof to be attested by the Gazetted officer Rank-I with his/her clear stamp containing name, designation, complete office address, date of attestation, official phone no.

4.  Three (3) passport size photographs of both parties. The same should be pasted on one plain page and to be crossed attested by the Gazetted officer Rank-I with his/her clear stamp containing name, designation, complete office address, date of attestation, official phone no.

5.  One (1) post card size marriage photograph. The same should be pasted on one plain page and to be crossed attested by the Gazetted officer Rank-I with his/her clear stamp containing name, designation, complete office address, date of attestation, official phone no.

6.  Marriage Invitation Card in original.

7.  Affidavits from both the parties separately. Affidavits to be printed on Rs. 10 non-judicial stamp paper and to be attested by the Notary public with Rs. 5 notary stamp. Both attested affidavits to be filed in original with application. For a language of affidavit, one can refer instruction part of an application form collected from the concerned ADM office.

8.  A fee of Rs. 100 in cash.

On submission of documents on specified time at the office of ADM, they will give a final date to the parties to appear for final registration. On the final date, applicant is required to be physically present with his/her spouse with original proofs and one witness having PAN Card. Witness may or may not be a relative of parties. After verification of originals with application set, the ADM approves the application and Certificate of Registration will be issued to both the parties separately.

  1. very nice !! all details are mentioned at the same place. Saved a lot of time for me. just 1 question for point 4 -

"3 passport size photographs to have be pasted on one plain page and to be cross attested by the Gazetted officer"

    1. Should the 3 photos be pasted adjacent to each other with 1 attestation ?

    2. Should the photos be attested individually ?

    3. What is the purpose of bringing photos in either questions 1 and 2 mentioned above (as they have been pasted in white paper)?

    4. What's the link to find the notary public in Delhi ?
